Grief Recovery

Whatever you’re facing…

I’m not going to tell you that “I know how you feel,” because I don’t.

Are you suffering from a broken heart?

Did a death, divorce, or the end of a romantic relationship cause it?

Or was it something else that’s changed your world – like moving, pet loss, or a change in finances?

Loss simply isn’t limited to death or divorce. Relationships, life transitions, career changes, health challenges, abuse, and over 40 things can cause grief and affect us in so many ways. And regardless of what’s causing you pain, you know how you feel and it probably isn’t good. I don’t know exactly how you feel, and neither does anyone else.

What I will do  is provide a safe environment where you will be given specific tools to help you recover from loss and ultimately lead a happier life.

The Problem

Grief is the normal and natural emotional response to loss, but most of the information we’ve learned about dealing with loss is intellectual. Although our Grief Support Groups involve some educational elements, effective Grief Recovery must deal with your broken heart, which requires emotional support instead of intellectual explanations.

Myths about Grief

  • Time heals all wounds
  • Replace the loss
  • Grieve alone
  • Be strong
  • Don’t feel bad
  • Keep busy

There is a Solution

People say you have to let go and move on in your life, but they don’t tell you how. The Grief Recovery Method Support Group, developed and refined over the past 30 years, teaches you how to recover from loss with supportive guidance every step of the way.

What is The Grief Recovery Method® program?

It’s a once-a-week face-to-face meeting that gives you the tools, space, and support to work through and release the pain of a major life loss. The program lasts seven to eight weeks, depending on the size of your program (one-on-one vs. group). One-on-ones usually last seven weeks and group programs usually last eight weeks.

What's the difference between a one-on-one and group programs?

In a one-on-one program, you’ll work directly with me. You’ll hear my story and get direct support from me throughout.

In a group program, you’ll work with me as well as others. You’ll hear my story as well as the stories of others and get support from the group through the later weeks of the program.

What losses can I work on?

All losses are welcome! Death, divorce, and diagnosis are the most common, but there are over 43 losses that can cause grief.

What cab I expect from our time together?

During each two hour session, you’ll be welcomed into a confidential, non-judgmental space where you’ll be expected to share the truth of your story as it happened to you. You’ll also be expected to complete weekly reading and homework assignments.

From me, you can expect open ears and an open heart ready to receive your story. I’m also available to answer logistical questions about the program.

What should I bring to the sessions?

A notebook and something to write with. Books and worksheets will be provided for you.

Do I have to attend every session?

Yes. If you miss a one-on-one session, you’ll be asked to reschedule your session with the possibility of incurring a fee. If you miss a group session after the first two weeks, you’ll be asked to leave the program with the opportunity to finish with another group at another time.

How is The Grief Recovery Method® different than therapy?

The Grief Recovery Method® is a series of steps specifically designed to help you recover from major loss within a set time frame. Unlike traditional therapy, The Grief Recovery Method® comes with a pre-established framework, a distinct focus on grief, and a limited number of meetings.

How much does it cost?

One-on-one programs start at $497.00 for seven weeks.

Group programs start at $397.00 per person for eight weeks.
(Minimum of four people required for group programs.)
